Reports from the northeastern Afghan province of Kunar say a roadside bomb has killed at least nine people, including seven policemen.
Local officials say the bomb hit a vehicle carrying several people, including police officers, who were injured in an earlier blast.
They were being transported to a nearby clinic to get medical treatment.
Provincial Governor Fazlullah Wahidi told RFE/RL’s Radio Free Afghanistan that a woman on the vehicle was also injured in the blast.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but the governor blamed it on Taliban militants who are active in the area.
The incident happened in Kunar’s troubled Dangam district bordering Pakistan.
