The NATO-led force in Afghanistan says an Afghan wearing a police uniform has shot dead a NATO soldier in the east of the country.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) gave no further details and did not release the nationality of the victim. The killing on August 4 is the latest in a series of incidents in which Afghan security forces or insurgent infiltrators have killed foreign soldiers.
It underlines problems facing the coalition as it prepares to hand security responsibility over to Afghan security forces by the end of 2014.
In a separate incident on August 4, a car bomb killed a senior intelligence official in the northern city of Konduz.
The north of Afghanistan was once relatively more secure than the south and the east, but a series of recent attacks and assassinations have raised concerns about its stability.
