Fifteen Afghan civilians were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the country's southern Helmand province.
Provincial spokesman Dawud Ahmadi said that the incident occurred on December 10 in Khan Neshin district.
Ordinary Afghans have increasingly become victims of the rising level of fighting in the country. According to UN figures, 1,271 civilians were killed in the first six months of this year, a 21 percent jump over the same period in 2009.
Meanwhile, there has been an explosion outside the police headquarters in Kandahar in southern Afghanistan.
The explosion reportedly wounded six people.
