The police chief of Afghanistan's southern province of Kandahar was killed today in a suicide attack at the city's police headquarters.
The deputy police chief of Kandahar, Shir Shah, said the attack on his boss, Khan Mohammad Mujahid, injured two other Afghan police officers.
Kandahar Province, the birthplace of the Taliban and their spiritual heartland, has seen heavy fighting over the last year.
Last month, the police chief of the northern province of Kunduz was killed in a suicide bombing claimed by the Taliban.
