Suicide Truck Blast In Afghanistan Kills At Least Six

A suicide truck bomb at a special-forces base in eastern Afghanistan has killed at least three soldiers and three civilians.

The explosion early on August 6 in Pol-e Alam, the capital of Logar Province, also wounded several others and damaged military facilities.

"The bomb was huge and [the attack] was carried out by a mini-truck," said Logar Province Governor Aleem Fedaee. "It inflicted a lot of damage to civilians and broke windows [in buildings] even a kilometer away."

The Taliban has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack.

A doctor at a hospital in Pol-e Alam said 13 wounded civilians were brought to his hospital.

He added that 11 doctors at the hospital -- which is only 200 meters from the site of the blast -- were also wounded in the blast.
