Officials say five civilians and two policemen have been killed in a suicide bombing in central Afghanistan.
The attack happened in Mahmud-e Raqi, the capital of Kapisa Province, northeast of Kabul.
The Interior Ministry said six civilians and one police officer were wounded.
The attacker reportedly tried to enter a government building and detonated his explosives when he was stopped at a checkpoint.
Earlier in the day, a rocket landed next to a building in central Wardak Province where Afghanistan's second vice president, Mohammed Karim Khalili, and Interior Minister Bismullah Mohammadi were inaugurating a new police training center along with NATO officials.
No one was injured when the mortar landed near the building where Khalili had just finished delivering an address.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for both attacks.
