The Taliban has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that killed at least 17 people in southern Afghanistan.

More than 20 were injured in the attack today in the town of Spin Boldak, on the border with Pakistan.

A Taliban spokesman, Qadi Yusuf Ahmadi, said the attack targeted a border police commander who was killed.

The attack occurred in a public bath as men were washing up before Friday Prayers.
