South Korea's Asiana Airlines says the pilot of the plane that crashed on the San Francisco airport runway was still "in training" to fly Boeing 777 aircraft.
The July 6 crash left two Chinese teenagers dead and scores of people injured, some critically.
Separately, U.S. air-safety investigators said the cockpit voice recorder from the flight shows that the crew tried to abort the landing just 1.5 seconds before the plane crashed.
National Transportation Safety Board chief Deborah Hersman said the data indicate that the crew tried to increase the plane’s speed seconds before impact.
Video shows the jet, carrying 307 people, smashing into the runway seawall, and breaking into pieces and catching fire as it came in to land after a flight from Seoul.
