Serhiy Aksyonov, the leader of the Russian Unity party in Crimea's regional parliament, addressed pro-Russian supporters in Simferopol, Ukraine, late on February 27. Earlier in the day, he was controversially appointed as the region's new prime minister. Aksyonov said he still recognizes President Viktor Yanukovych as Ukraine's legitimate head of state.
