Belarusian Journalist, Daughter Denied Reentry To Georgia For Unknown Reasons

Belarusian journalist Andrey Myaleshka, who has been residing in Georgia since fleeing political persecution in 2021, was denied reentry into the South Caucasus country on September 16 while returning from vacation in Poland with his daughter. Myaleshka told RFE/RL that Georgian authorities did not specify the reasons for the barring of their entrance to Georgia. Myaleshka was told that he and his daughter will be deported to Poland. The two are currently in the deportation center of Kutaisi's airport. Georgia's Interior Ministry told RFE/RL's Georgian Service it will "look into the matter and respond if there is an update."
