Libyan Rebels Advance On Qaddafi Stronghold

WATCH: Libyan rebels today dodge sniper fire and engage in heavy fighting as they move into Bani Walid, a bastion of support for deposed leader Muammar Qaddafi, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

Forces of Libya's interim government have been fighting fierce battles for the control of two of the last strongholds of deposed leader Muammar Qaddafi.

Anti-Qaddafi forces were repulsed on September 16 after stiff resistance from Qaddafi loyalists in Bani Wali, 180 km southeast of Tripoli, while other fighters battled loyalists inside Sirte, Qaddafi's hometown, some 450 km east of Tripoli.

After about seven months of fighting, forces loyal to the interim National Transitional Council control most of Libya.

Qaddafi's whereabouts remain unknown.

Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has arrived in Tripoli as part of what's been dubbed his "Arab Spring" tour, held talks with Libya's new leadership.

Speaking to a cheering crowd in the capital, Erdogan said Libyans were "the ones who showed the whole world that no administration can stand in the way of the might and will of the people."

Erdogan's arrival follows a joint visit to Libya on September 15 by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
