The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed to continue their talks on a resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the coming weeks.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamadyarov and his Armenian counterpart, Eduard Nalbandian, met on the sidelines of a session of the OSCE's Ministerial Council in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, on December 4.
The meeting was held two weeks after the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sarkisian, discussed Nagorno-Karabakh during face-to-face talks in Vienna and agreed to advance negotiations toward a peaceful settlement.
The Armenian-populated region of Nagorno-Karabakh was seized from Azerbaijan by Armenian separatists during a devastating war in the 1990s.
Diplomatic efforts to settle the conflict since then have brought no results.
The region's independence has never been recognized by any country.
