A suicide car bombing at a police checkpoint has killed at least seven people and wounded more than 20 in southern Afghanistan.
Helmand Province’s Deputy Governor Mohammad Jan Rasoulyar said the attack took place on March 10 on the outskirts of the provincial capital, Lashkar Gah.
The dead and wounded included both civilians and police officers.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the bombing, which comes as Afghan security forces are battling a growing Taliban militancy.
U.S. and NATO forces formally ended their combat mission at the end of 2014, with Afghan troops taking charge of the country's security.
