BISHKEK -- Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev has sacked two government ministers.
In separate statements on December 12, Atambaev's press service he has dismissed Education Minister Kanat Sadykov and the accepted the resignation of Aliasbek Alymkulov, the minister of labor, migration, and youth issues.
Alymkulov had been in his post since April 2010, shortly after President Kurmanbek Bakiev was toppled by antigovernment protests.
Alymkulov was wounded during the protests, in which government opponents clashed with police, and was awarded with the order of the Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic. No reason was given for his departure.
Sadykov and lawmaker Kanybek Osmonaliev have been at the center of scandal over what investigators say was the illegal acceptance of 24 students to the prestigious Boris Yeltsin Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in Bishkek.
