Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev on November 25 canceled a planned meeting with arch-foe Armenia's prime minister, whom he said had demanded the mediation of French President Emmanuel Macron. Azerbaijan accuses France of backing Armenia in its decades-long conflict over the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Aliyev said he would not be meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian in Brussels on December 7 because the Armenian leader demanded Macron attend the talks.
