Authorities in Azerbaijan detained the country's most prominent human rights activist, Leyla Yunus, and her husband, Arif Yunus, at Baku airport as they prepared to travel to Doha late on April 28. Security forces took the pair to their home and conducted a search, in spite of Yunus's objections that they did not have a search warrant. Yunus is the founder and director of the Peace and Democracy Institute, a Baku-based NGO. (RFE/RL's Azerbaijani Service)
