Azerbaijan's Supreme Court has rejected an appeal by a jailed journalist whose continued imprisonment has prompted international criticism.
The court turned down Eynulla Fatullayev's appeal of his two-and-a-half year sentence for illegal drugs possession.
Fatullayev, the editor of a newspaper critical of the government, has been in jail since 2007.
He had several charges against him lifted last month, including defamation and instigating terrorism, after the European Court of Human Rights urged his immediate release earlier this year.
He remains in jail on the charges of drug possession, which were brought against him in July.
