German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich has confirmed it is in talks with Russian energy giant Gazprom on a possible sponsorship deal.
The club's president, Uli Hoeness, told the "Sport Bild" newspaper on January 4 that he and other Bayern officials met with Gazprom vice-chairman and CEO Aleksei Miller late last month.
The Russian company currently sponsor Bayern rivals Schalke 04, but Hoeness said that any possible deal between his club and the Russian energy giant will not affect Bayern's Bundesliga rivals.
Bayern is currently sponsored by Deutsche Telekom.
