Imprisoned Belarusian rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Byalyatski has been placed in punitive solitary confinement for alleged wrongdoings while in custody, the activist's wife, Natallya Pinchuk, said at the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg on November 6. The 61-year-old human rights advocate from Belarus, one of the winners of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize, is serving a 10-year sentence that he was handed in March on charges of financing actions violating public order and smuggling.
