Belarus has expelled three Polish diplomats, the Polish Foreign Ministry confirmed on February 20, according to the Onet.pl news service. The service reported that those being expelled were a Polish border-guard liaison official and two members of the Polish Consulate in the city of Hrodna near the border. Tensions have soared between NATO and EU member Poland and strong Russian ally Belarus over the war in Ukraine and border issues. Polish authorities have accused Belarus's authoritarian leader Alyaksandr Lukashenka of pushing thousands of migrants into Poland and by extension destabilizing the EU.
