The State Border Committee of Belarus said on July 17 that it has introduced visa-free entry for citizens of 35 European nations. As of July 19, citizens of the European Union's member-states, Britain, Norway, Switzerland, and Balkan countries can stay in Belarus for up to 30 days without visas. The move was approved by authoritarian ruler Alyaksandr Lukashenka, the State Border Committee said. Russia, which has no permanent land-border checkpoints with Belarus, has yet to comment on the decision.
