A court in Belarus has sentenced a man to two years in prison for making online comments about the country's authoritarian ruler, Alyaksandr Lukashenka, and his regime. The central district court in Minsk sentenced Aleh Yushkevich, 36, on February 9 after convicting him of insulting Lukashenka and the tightly controlled former Soviet nation’s authorities.
