Belgian police have detained five suspects for questioning after an explosion during the early morning hours of August 29 rocked the country's criminology institute in Brussels.
State broadcaster RTBF reported on August 29 that a car forced its way into the site before an explosion there at about 2 a.m. local time.
RTBF did not attribute the information provided in the report.
There were no reported injuries, but RTBF reported that damage at the site was significant.
Belgian prosecutors said the five suspects were all detained near the facility at the time of the apparent attack.
They said the attack may have been an attempt to destroy evidence in a criminal case.
The criminology institute works with Belgium's justice authorities to carry out investigations.
Belgium has been on high alert for possible terrorist attacks since a March 22 double bombing at Brussels airport and a subway station killed 32 people.
