A Moscow court has adjourned until October 29 the trial of a dancer from the Bolshoi Ballet accused of organizing an acid attack that nearly blinded the theater's artistic director.
Pavel Dmitrichenko is alleged to have hired the two men who carried out the attack against Sergei Filin earlier this year.
Dmitrichenko, at a pretrial hearing in March, admitted that he wanted Filin to be roughed up but said he never intended for acid to be used in the attack.
The prosecution contends that Dmitrichenko organized the assault after being passed over for a main role.
Dmitrichenko and his two alleged accomplices face up to 12 years in prison if they are convicted on charges of causing grievous bodily harm.
Filin did not attend the October 22 hearing.
