Hundreds Killed In Brazil Mudslides, Floods

Devastating mudslides and floods have killed nearly 270 people and left dozens more missing in Brazil.

Officials said entire villages were wiped out in the mountainous area near Rio de Janeiro.

In the worst hit town of Teresopolis, some 65 kilometers north of Rio, at least 130 people were reported killed.

The area saw 26 centimeters of rain fall in less than 24 hours, and floodwaters continued to gush down the mountain slopes for hours after the rainstorms ended on January 12.
