Medvedev Arrives In Delhi For BRICS Summit

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev has arrived in New Delhi where he is due to meet later with the leaders of Brazil, India, China and South Africa.

The so-called BRICS summit on March 28 and March 29 is the fourth meeting between leaders of this bloc of emerging-markets.

The five leaders are expected to discuss the global economic situation ahead of a G20 meeting in Mexico, international stability and security, and other topics.

According to reports, the five leaders will probably also be discussing the leadership of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.

The heads of those two international financial organizations have traditionally come from Western nations, but BRICS has suggested that the selection of the top jobs in both bodies should be expanded to include representatives from emerging-market nations.
