A British marine has been accused of "executing" an injured Afghan insurgent while serving in Afghanistan in 2011.
A prosecutor told a military court in southwest England on October 23 that the marine shot the Afghan in the chest at close range. The Royal Marine and two other soldiers are charged with murdering the man.
The killing and the marine's comments were inadvertently recorded by a camera mounted on the helmet of a co-defendant.
The killing took place after a military base in Afghanistan's Helmand Province was attacked by insurgents in September 2011. The three men deny the charges.
They were arrested last year. If convicted, they could be sentenced to serve time in a military prison.
