Tens of thousands of Bulgarians have taken to the streets for demonstrations across the country, showing the government’s recent resignation has failed to calm public anger about poverty and corruption.
The rallies took place in cities like Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Blagoevgrad, Ruse, and Sliven.
In the biggest rally, some 50,000 people took to the streets at the Black Sea city of Varna.
Prime Minister Boiko Borisov quit along with his center-right government on February 27 after two weeks of sometimes violent protests.
He remains in office until an interim government is appointed, most likely next week.
Elections have been scheduled for May 12.
