The two suspects in an alleged plot to derail a passenger train in Canada appeared in court on April 23, rejecting the charges against them.
Chihib Esseghaier and Raed Jaser face charges that include conspiring to “murder unknown persons for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group.”
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have said the two men were receiving support from Al-Qaeda elements located in Iran.
The two were arrested on April 22 in separate raids.
Iran has denied any connection to the two men. Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi called the claims the two men received support from inside Iran “truly ridiculous.”
Local media reported that the Canadian authorities were tipped off about the alleged plot by an imam who was reporting suspicious behavior.
