U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who cancelled a trip to North Africa and the Persian Gulf on December 10 because of a stomach virus, has sustained a concussion after fainting.
The U.S. State Department said on December 15 that Clinton is recovering at her home after the incident last week and is being monitored by doctors.
Her aide Philippe Reines said in a statement that Clinton was dehydrated because of the virus when she fainted.
The statement says she will continue to work from home during the next week and would be back at her office "soon."
Clinton is scheduled to testify on December 20 at congressional hearings into the September 11 attack against the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans -- including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens.
