At the start of a regional tour, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has urged Arab states in the Gulf to stay focused on sanctions against Iran over its controversial nuclear program.
Clinton also said that Israel's move to proceed with an East Jerusalem settlement project by razing a derelict hotel in Jerusalem today undermined the peace effort.
Clinton arrived in Abu Dhabi at the start of a five-day tour that will also take her to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates trading hub, as well as Muscat and Doha.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials disputed Iranian suggestions that a U.S. national was in custody after being detained near Iran's border with Azerbaijan.
