Security Forces Conduct Antiterrorist Operation In Ingushetia

Police stand near debris at the site of a suicide bombing at a checkpoint on the border between the regions of North Ossetia and Ingushetia in October 2012.

Four suspected militants have been killed in a special operation in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Ingushetia.

One security officer was also killed in the shootouts.

Local police officials say a group of gunmen opened fire at police officers early on April 8 in the village of Dalakovo.

A counterterrorism operation in the village is continuing.

Ingushetia, along with Russia's other volatile North Caucasus republics such as Kabardino-Balkaria, Daghestan, and Chechnya, continues to experience violence linked to Islamic extremists and organized criminal groups.
