Two Bodies Found In Exploded Vehicle In Russia's Daghestan

The remains of two men have been found inside an exploded car in Russia's volatile North Caucasus region of Daghestan.

Daghestani law-enforcement representatives say the BMW car was found late in the evening on June 27 in the region's western region of Karabudakhkent.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the men were transporting a homemade explosive device that detonated unexpectedly, killing the two men, who have not been yet identified.

Daghestan has been at the epicenter of a wave of violence by armed criminal groups and militants seeking to establish an Islamic caliphate in the North Caucasus.

Organized crime, business turf wars, political disputes, and clan rivalry also contribute to the bloodshed in the region.
