Austrian media reported on July 11 that a native of Russia's North Caucasus region of Daghestan who was suspected of being a member of the Islamic State's Khorasan branch committed suicide hours before being deported to Russia. The 40-year-old man, whose identity was not disclosed, was suspected of being involved in plotting terrorist attacks on Catholic cathedrals in Vienna and the German city of Cologne. After police were unable to collect enough evidence to officially charge him, a decision was taken to deport him to Russia, reports said.
