One person has died and 60 people have been wounded in a double blast near the regional Interior Ministry offices in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Daghestan.
Interior Ministry officials said the explosions occurred overnight in Makhachkala within 40 meters of each other.
The first minor blast was planted near a car and did not cause any injures, while the second was a car bomb with 40 kilograms of TNT equivalent.
Officials said the wounded included 44 policemen and 16 civilians.
Also today, attackers opened fire on the car of the local interior ministry chief in the city of Buinaks. The man escaped the attack unhurt, but two fellow passengers in the car were killed.
