For the first time since Moscow launched its full-scale of invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the territory of Russia's North Caucasus region of Chechnya has been targeted by drone attacks. Chechnya's Kremlin-backed authoritarian leader Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on Telegram on October 29 that drones had attacked the building of the so-called "Spetsnaz (Special Forces) University" named after President Vladimir Putin in the Chechen city of Gudermes, some 500 kilometers from Ukraine's borders. According to Kadyrov, there were no casualties. A fire on the roof was extinguished. Kyiv did not comment.
