The trial of ousted Egyptian President Muhammad Morsi has been adjourned until February 22 to give attorneys more time to study the case.
The January 28 court session was marked by combative outbursts from Morsi, who was confined to a cage in the courtroom.
Morsi yelled angrily at the judge, "Who are you?"
The ex-president faces charges related to 2011 prison breakouts that saw some 20,000 inmates escape during the unrest that ended with longtime leader Hosni Mubarak being deposed.
Morsi is on trial with 130 other defendants.
In other developments, officials said gunmen on a motorbike shot dead a senior Interior Ministry official, General Muhammad Saeed.
Also on January 28, gunmen opened fire on police guarding a church in Cairo, killing one and wounding two others.
