Egypt says it will not be persuaded by the potential loss of U.S. aid to end an investigation into foreign-funded nongovernmental organizations.

Forty-three pro-democracy activists, 19 of them Americans, are to be put on trial for alleged illegal activities of their NGOs.

The 19 include the son of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

The United States has threatened to withhold $1.3 billion in annual military aid to Egypt over its crackdown on NGOs.
