Protesters in the Egyptian capital Cairo are vowing to hold another mass rally today to demand an immediate end to army rule.
Protesters are calling today's planned rally "the Friday of the last chance" for the army to hand over power.
This despite local media reports that Egypt's ruling military council had asked former prime minister Kamal Ganzouri to form a new government.
There's been no official confirmation, but reports say Ganzouri has agreed to lead a national salvation government.
The 78-year-old Ganzouri is credited with enacting some economic reforms when he served as prime minister between 1996 and 1999.
Violent clashes with police in and around Cairo's Tahrir Square since November 19 have killed 41 people, according to Egypt's Health Ministry.
A nervous calm was reported on the streets near Tahrir on November 24 as a truce between security forces and hard-line protesters held.
