A European Union prosecutor in Kosovo has indicted a Turkish and an Israeli national for involvement in an international network that trafficked in human organs.
The EU rule of law mission (EULEX) in Kosovo said in a statement on June 13 that Turkish national Yusuf Sonmez, and Israel's Moshe Harel were indicted last week on charges of "trafficking in persons, organized crime and unlawful exercise of medical activity."
Last year, EU prosecutor Jonathan Ratel said the two conspired with Kosovo doctors to perform dozens of operations in 2008 on impoverished organ donors who were falsely promised money in exchange for their kidneys.
Sonmez and Harel are currently at large.
