Paris Terror Suspect Out Of Belgian Hospital

A suspect accused of involvement in the November terrorist attack in Paris that left 130 dead has been transferred out of a Belgian hospital and is expected to be sent to France soon.

Suspect Salah Abdeslam, 26, was being questioned by Belgian police on March 19, one day after being slightly wounded in a police raid.

French officials are expected to file a request for expedited extradition. A Belgian prosecutor told AP that if Abdeslam begins talking to Belgian police, it could delay his extradition.

"But sooner or later, he will be extradited to France," prosecutor Eric Van der Sypt said.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that the arrest of Abdeslam and four other suspects was "a major blow" to the network of Islamic State (IS) militants operating in Europe.

Only one suspect in the Paris attacks, Mohamed Abrini, remains at large.

Cazeneuve said that 74 people "with ties to terrorist activities" had been arrested in France since the beginning of this year.

"In the face of a threat level that remains extremely high, [these results] are encouragement to pursue our efforts nonstop," he said.
