France defeated Serbia to win a place in the Davis Cup tennis tournament finals and will face Belgium, which topped Australia to enter the championship match.
France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga clinched his team’s victory by beating Dusan Lajovic by a score of 2-6 6-2 7-6(5) 6-2 on September 17 before 18,000 spectators in Lille.
Serbia’s star, former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, was out with an injury and did not play.
France, which has won nine Davis Cup titles, last played in the championship round in 2014, losing to Switzerland.
The finals between France and Belgium are scheduled for November 24-26. The site has not yet been announced, although France will be the host.
