Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili said his country will move forward on its path toward the European Union.
Margvelashvili, who was inaugurated as Georgia's president on November 17, confirmed that his country will initial an EU Association Agreement at the summit of the EU's Eastern Partnership in Vilnius next week.
The comments came a day after the government of Ukraine, another country considering strengthening its ties to the EU, decided not to sign a key political association and free-trade agreement with the EU.
After the announcement, Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said his country will continue to pursue association with the EU. Moldova is also expected to initial an EU Association Agreement in Vilnius next week.
