Georgians celebrated in the capital, Tbilisi, on December 15 after the European Council offered the country EU candidate status, a major step on the long path to joining the bloc. The decision came as the European Council agreed to open accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova. Several young Georgians told RFE/RL's Georgian Service that the development gives them hope for the country's future.
