Water Cannons Used Against Protesters In Georgia

Riot police doused the protesters as they huddled in groups outside the parliament building.

The United States and the European Union have called on the Georgian government, political parties, and civic activists  to engage in a "calm and respectful dialogue" over calls for snap elections.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement earlier on November 18 that the protests had "gone beyond the law."

Opposition parties say the current electoral system unfairly favors the ruling Georgian Dream party.

Riot police used water cannons as they tried to disperse protesters blocking the entrance to Georgia's parliament building in Tbilisi. The protest, in its fourth day on November 18, was called to demand new elections and constitutional amendments to change the voting system.
