Helicopter Crashes In Moscow Neighborhood

Russian investigators and emergency services personnel work at the site of a Ka-52 helicopter crash near a helipad in a southeastern suburb of Moscow on October 29.

A military helicopter crashed in Moscow's southeastern Zhulebino neighborhood. Both pilots were reportedly injured, though the injuries were said to be nonlethal. No other injuries or damage were reported.

The Ka-52 "Alligator" attack helicopter was on a test flight when it crashed.

The Ka-52 is the latest generation of attack helicopters for the Russian military. Around 20 have been built so far though none have yet been delivered to military units.

Russia's Kamov company that produces the Ka-52 said the tests were part of a program to develop a version of the helicopter for use on navy ships.
