Doctors at a Moldovan state-run hospital have apparently used household tools to perform surgery in a video leaked to local press and published on the Internet.
Local television stations on July 22 ran the graphic video, recorded at a children's hospital in Chisinau, which showed doctors using tools including an electric drill and pliers.
Prime Minister Iurie Leanca has ordered Health Minister Andrei Usatii to investigate the incident.
Usatii has said that while the use of household tools was allowed in certain circumstances, the hospital in question had adequate specialized equipment.
Meanwhile, Nicolae Starciuc, the hospital's head physician, told local media he suspected disgruntled doctors had leaked the video to discredit him.
