India Appeals To Pakistan To Free Death-Row Inmate

India has appealed to Pakistan to release an Indian on death row who is in a coma after being attacked by inmates in a Lahore jail.

Sarabjit Singh was convicted for spying and carrying out four bombings that killed 14 people in Pakistan in 1990.

His execution was put off indefinitely by President Asif Ali Zardari's government.

The motive behind the attack by fellow inmates on April 26 at Kot Lakhpat jail is unclear.

India wants him sent home to receive medical treatment.

In its appeal, New Delhi urged Islamabad to "take a sympathetic and humanitarian view of this case" and release him.
