International Women's Day Marked With Rallies Calling For Equality, End To Violence
Women with placards that read, "Raise your son" and "We need rights 365 days a year" participated in a rally in celebration of International Women's Day in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on March 8. The theme for this year's event was: Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress.

International Women's Day, officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977, is celebrated around the world on March 8.
