French, German Ministers Planning To Visit Iran

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius says he has accepted an invitation to visit Iran after Tehran signed a deal with world powers on Tehran's nuclear program.

Fabius told French radio on July 15 that his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, had "re-invited" him as the landmark deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief was clinched in Vienna on July 14.

"I told him I would go to Iran so I will go to Iran," Fabius added.

He did not give a date for the trip.

Meanwhile, the Reuters news agency quoted industry and coalition sources as saying German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel plans to fly to Iran on July 19.

A ministry spokeswoman said a visit to Iran was being considered but she declined to say when it would happen.
